Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are actually open and may close on fifteen December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must fulfill the following requirements:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house which has a combined gross residence income that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined home income isn't going to exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not submit any proof of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 nsfas check per annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the correct Identification Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored nsfas status within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are researching or intend to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid nsfas application delays in the processing of their application.
